United Airlines

United Airlines, Inc. (commonly referred to as United) is a major U.S. airline headquartered at Willis Tower in Chicago, Illinois. United operates a large domestic and international route network spanning cities large and small across the United States and all six inhabited continents. Measured by fleet size and the number of routes, it is the third-largest airline in the world after it has merged with Continental Airlines in 2010. United has eight hubs, with Chicago–O’Hare being its largest in terms of passengers carried and the number of departures. It is a founding member of the Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline alliance with a total of 28 member airlines. Regional service is operated by independent carriers under the brand name United Express. The United brand name was established by the amalgamation of several airlines in the late 1920s, the oldest of these being Varney Air Lines, which was founded in 1926.

United Airlines Classes of Service

Polaris Business Class

The passengers flying this class are offered separate check-in counters, priority boarding, baggage handling and even priority screening if available. Access to United Polaris clubs and other United lounges are also one of the freebies. On arriving aboard, the passengers get a complimentary drink, and the meals are multi-course curated by chefs in partnership with the Trotter project. The seats turn into 180 degree of full flatbed and are fitted with mood lighting, multiple charging points, adjustable back, arm and headrest.

First and Business Class

This class of travel is available on most of the domestic flights and the same cabin is called United Business on international flights. The seats come with a 38-inch pitch and a few other features of flying this class are priority boarding, pre-departure drinks, complimentary meals and more.

Premium Plus Class

This cabin is a premium Economy product with more space offering more comfort than any other Economy product. The meals are served on chinaware with free alcoholic drinks. Other amenities that the passengers are offered are Saks and Fifth Avenue bedding along with an amenity kit.

Economy Plus Class

This cabin is available on all United flights. The seats for United Economy Plus can be found at the front and the exit rows of the Economy cabin. The seats have more than 7 inches of recline and 37 inches of pitch. The seats in Economy Plus are free to choose for Mileage Plus members.

Economy Class

The seats in this cabin have a pitch of 31 inches with a recline of 5 inches. The seats come with adjustable headrests and 7-inch entertainment touchscreens. Economy passengers can avail in-flight Wi-Fi, and a few aircraft also have DIRECTV. The meals are complimentary on international routes while domestic travelers can purchase meal on board.

Basic Economy Class

United’s lowest fare cabin is available on select routes and offers similar amenities as that of standard Economy class. The class doesn’t allow group seating, seat upgrades and full-sized hand luggage though. Also, members of United Mileage Plus can’t avail a few benefits.

The domestic destinations to where the airline flies are Atlanta, New York, Chicago, Houston, Newark, San Francisco among others. In the international circuit some of the United Airlines top sectors are Houston to Sydney, Los Angeles to Melbourne, San Francisco to Singapore and Newark to Hong Kong.
